Abstract:

The course will give an overview of approximation estimates for spline approximation in Sobolev spaces. It will contain the definition of the spline spaces involved, the necessary background on polynomial approximation, and a description of the techniques involved in the proofs. The themes will be analyzed separately in the univariate and multivariate case to separate the main ideas from the technical details.
