This event is organized by the Doctoral Program "Computational Mathematics" together with RICAM.
- Aims and Scope
This workshop aims at bringing together experts on the theoretical and numerical treatment of optimization problems with partial differential equations (PDEs) as constraints. One class of PDE-constrained optimization problems which is of big practical relevance are optimal design problems, which can be solved by means of shape optimization or topology optimization methods. These methods originate from applications in mechanical engineering, but can also be applied to other fields such as electromagnetics.
Another important class of problems are optimal control problems. In this context, the workshop mainly focuses on the construction of efficient solution strategies for the arising optimality system.
- Time Schedule
The workshop will take place between Thursday, March 6, 9am and Friday, March 7, 2014, 6pm.
Thursday and Friday morning will consist of invited talks whereas Friday afternoon is reserved for discussion and cooperation in small groups.
